“Raio” Palace – Portugal

The “Raio palace” is a building that is classified as historical heritage, and it’s initially construction dates back to 1754-1755. It has been considered as a magnificent example of the architectural “Barraco” in the best “Joanino” style. Its facade, deeply decorated is very popular. On the interior, the statue of “the turch” and the 3 arched staircase are the most prominent elements. The building has functioned as a part of the Town hospital for the last years and needed to be completely remodeled. It was submitted to a deep rehabilitation intervention, allowing the historical building to have the safety and comfort of modem days building, allowing it to function as a museum. The intervention was done with solutions and materials that was adapted to the specific pre-existent building.
